A full moon night is not good for the deep sky observation. But a waning moon is normally rising late enough in the night to give us time to observe a few deep sky objects before we watch the moon itself. This kind of astronomy workshop is a good opportunity to take stunning pictures. Here are a few ones.

Lastly we had winds from the East in the Canary islands. The East winds bring dust from Sahara desert. This is named "Calima" is Spanish. For some reasons (we do not know) the atmosphere is particularly quiet when loaded with Sahara dust. There are very few turbulences and we still have sharp images despite of magnifying 225 times. One this picture, we used our handmade 16'' telescope (1.80m focal length) along with Ethos 8 mm X 100º eyepiece and a decent mobile phone . Enjoy and share with no fear.

Bennu is a 60 million tons asteroid orbiting around the sun in the nearby of the Earth orbit. It is a potentially hazardous object. Size of Benny compared to Playa del Inglés. OSIRIS-REx is a spacecraft launched in 2016 to analyze Bennu asteroid and return sample to Earth. Bennu may contain important information about the origin of life on Earth. Moreover, knowing the physical and chemical properties of Bennu may come in help in the future if we want to intend a mission to mitigate an impact with the Earth.  OSIRIS-REx spacecraft After about 2 years travelling, OSIRIS-REx recently took a first photography of the asteroid and began the final approach to it.
